The Dragon Forum International Documentary Film Workshops in Kiev, part of the Docudays Ua Film Festival, has come to an end.

(2010-04-09)

The International Documentary Film Workshops in Kiev, the Ukraine, are a Polish-Ukrainian film initiative which took place between 28 March and 1 April 2010. The organisers of this event were the Dragon Forum (Poland) and the Ukrainian Docudays Ua International Documentary Film Festival, an event dedicated to human rights.

This year's edition of the Dragon Forum International Workshops in Kiev featured 17 documentary film projects represented by nearly 40 documentary film-makers and television journalists from the Ukraine, Russia and Belarus. The workshops took place between 28 March and 1 April 2010, in the centre of the Ukrainian capital city, in the Cinema House. The number of observers of the works of the Dragon Forum reached a record high of 50!

the Dragon Forum International Workshops in Kiev feature discussions on film projects, their form and message as well as screenings of film footage.

For the majority of documentary film-makers from the Ukraine, Russia and Belarus this was the first professional encounter with lecturers from the European Union. It resulted in a very intensive work on the structure of individual projects, their adjustment to the requirements of the European film market, particularly to the demands of investors, film funds and potential viewers. The Dragon Forum meant group work and analysis of individual ideas whose goal was to prepare selected projects for a trial pitching carried out before the experts from various television stations.

The lectures and consultations featured Dorota Roszkowska (PL), Steven Seidenberg (GB), Radmila Sesic (NL), Maria Zmarz-Koczanowicz (PL) and Svetlana Zinovyeva (UA),  Jacek Bławut (PL), Patric Barberis (FR) and Valery Balayan (RUS).

On 1 April 2010, during the show pitching closing the Dragon Forum International Workshops in Kiev we had experts from Ukrainian TV stations and representatives of the most important film institutions as well as experienced documentary film directors:
