Call for entries to the to "The Art of Document" festival

Multimedia Festival "The Art of Document" is a meeting with the most interesting docs from Eastern Europe. It is a new place of exchange of ideas in the old centre of the Poland’s capital city.
THE ART OF THE DOCUMENT has been organized since 2001 as a part of the Era New Horizons Festival in Cieszyn and Wroclaw. In 2008 the ART OF THE DOCUMENT has moved to the capital city. At Warsaw's Rejs cinema, in May and in December, within the European Year of International Dialogue there were held two editions of the festival under the banner of The Republic of Cultures.
This year's THE ART OF THE DOCUMENT Festival is called
“Year 1989 in Europe. Freedom – Media – Democracy.”
The festival will be entirely devoted to events associated with the downfall of communism.
The festival will be held from 9-21 November 2009. We will present and award the most interesting films shot in the times of the regime, as well as those which emerged after the political changes.
THE ART OF THE DOCUMENT Festival announces a call for applications!!!
We are waiting for both documentary and feature films touching upon subjects associated with communism in Poland and Central Eastern Europe. We are particularly interested in films devoted to events such as:
- movements of Solidarność,
- imposition of the Martial Law debates and the inside story of the Round Table – the breakthrough moment for Poland and the neighboring countries, that is year 1989, the first free election in Poland,
- the fall of the Berlin Wall The Autumn of Nations in Eastern Europe - events in Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria.
We invite you to submit films shot recently, after 1989, as well as those from the era of communism.
The festival films will be presented in two categories: the documentary one and the feature one. The further division of these categories into another two groups seems natural - films shot in times of censorship, using the language of metaphor and those which were created after the system’s collapse, using the language of freedom.
Deadline: 30th June 2009
The most interesting films will be awarded.
