Art of Document "Republic of Cultures"

Festival Art of Document at the Trakt Królewski in Warsaw is the encouter with the most interesting docuemantry films from the Central and East Europe. It is a new place of thougths exchange in the old centre of the capital city. Screenings are combined in the thematic cycles concerning current social and cultural events, which take place in Warsaw, Poland and Europe. There is a time and place for the conversation with the authors and protagonists of the films.

In the year 2008 Art of Document takes place under the title Republic of Cultures. In the days 21-22 and 27-30 of December the Rejs cinema at the renovated and impressive avenue Krakowskie Przedmieście will become a place of inspiring encounters and intercultural exchange. We will show fascinating films. We will host outstanding artists and intelectuals.

Films will show the cultural diversity which we can find in the present Poland and in our neighbour countries. It is diversity of nationalities, religions and small communities related by the common passion, living at the borders of the main cultural stream. Such a variety was a basis of the past Poland, today is often unappreciated richness.

What is the intercultural dialogue in practice? How to create tollerance in everyday life? When the diffrence is the inspiration? These are only some of the questions which will be asked during the Festival – trough the films and during the talks with the authors.

In the programme: “Ukraine” of Jerzy Hoffman, “Po-lin” of Jolanta Dylewska, international documentary “Across the Border” and documenatries of Jan Sosiński, Waldemar Czechowski and many others.
