"IF IT HAPPENS" by Marcel Lozinski on the “short list” of short documentary films for Oscar

(2008-01-06)

We have a pleasure to inform that Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science has admitted ‘If it happens’ - Marcel Lozinski ‘s the newest film- to the “short list” of short documentary films (up to 40 minutes). From among all contenders the AMPAS has selected 8 altogether and allowed them to compete for Oscar in this category. These films had to meet required criteria like, f.ex.: submitting film on the 35 mm tape and a week-long film show in a cinema in Los Angeles. There will be between three and five in the category nominated to the 80th Academy Award. The Oscar ceremony is planned for February 24, 2008.

The main character of Lozinski’s film is Tomek – an 18-year-old son of a director. He visits a park, where, as a child, he used to ask old people about a sense of life, about love, loneliness and death. These people are not in the park any more. Thanks to the magic of cinema , Tomek meets himself as a child.

IF IT HAPPENED has been produced by Kalejdoskop Film Studio and Telewizja Polska Program 1. It is co-financed by Polish Film Institute.
